Skyrim: The Elder Scrolls V Patch 1.03 Fixes Some Issues

The new patch for Skyrim has fixed some issues but the game still has bugs in it. Truth of the matter is that the game is not perfect and never will be. When you attempt to fix issues you can cause others and Bethesda Softworks is not going to risk ruining the game over issues that do not affect the over all success of the game. Dragons that do not give souls is not an issue as there are more dragons in the game than Shouts.

Patch 1.03

  • General stability improvements
  • Optimize performance for Core 2 Duo CPU’s (PC)
  • Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
  • Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
  • Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
  • Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
  • Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with frame-rate

At this point you can platinum the game despite the fact that you cannot complete some quests. The lag in the game can be over come by turning off auto saves and stopping game play occasionally and restarting the game. Remember to save before doing anything risky. Not too much time should go by without saving or you will doing repeats which is frustrating.

Instead of focusing on the negatives, enjoy the positives of the game which is an epic video game that is very large, has a lot to do and accomplish and is certainly worth the $60.00 you paid when you purchased the game. Skyrim is not perfect, but it is better than any other game out there in its genre and game time played amounts to pennies per hour. The lost Dragon souls are not an issue as there are more of them than needed.

After January Skyrim plans on addressing other issues but no matter what they do there will always be issues and we will just have to deal with them. Have fun with it and if you turn off the auto saves remember to save occasionally. It has worked for me and is not a fix all, but it helps. Those with a lot of time in the game and large game files experience more lag than others. I am at level 56 so the lag is a bit worse without turning off the auto saves.

What I may do is put my saves on memory card and unhook the internet and start over fresh with no patches and auto saves turned off.

(UPDATE) I transferred all of my game saves and settings to memory card and started the game over with internet disconnected so I would not get any updates and tried quests that were buggy and I could not complete and had no problems doing them. No lag so far at level 15 and everything runs smooth. If it starts getting laggy I will turn off all auto saves. I will update this post if I run into any problems.

If Bethesda fixes all the issues then that will be a big plus. If they do not then the game is still playable and enjoyable so enjoy it.
