Ted Allen told the Chefs that they will be judged on Creativity, Taste and Presentation and they must use all of the ingredients in the basket in some way.

APPETIZER ROUND
He tells them that they have 20 minutes to complete the round and has them open their baskets which includes the following ingredients;

  • Tuna Belly
  • Dandelion Greens
  • Canned Chick Peas
  • Dates

After the Chefs completed their dishes they were presented to the judges and given the following critiques;

Chef Danushka prepared Seared Tuna Belly w/ Chick Pea Puree and Warm Dandelion Salad. The judges said that her presentation was great but she should have removed the stems from the dandelion leaves. They said all the flavors worked well together but the dish needed salt.

Chef Ryan prepared Grilled Tuna w/ Dandelion & Chick Pea Salad. The judges said the salad was bitter but the chick peas were the best in the round. They said the tuna was over cooked and lacked seasoning.

Chef Michael prepared Tuna Belly Sushi w/ Asian Style Chick Pea Puree & Dandelion Salad. The judges noted he left the dates off his dish. They said his slicing of the tuna was skilled and his salad was bitter.

Chef Matt prepared Tuna Belly Two Ways w/ Chick Pea Puree. The judges said he did a lot in 20 minutes but the puree over powered the tuna. They said the dates did not help his dish at all.

After careful deliberation Chef Michael was chopped for the above reasons.

ENTREE ROUND
Ted Allen told the Chefs they have 30 minutes to complete the round and has them open their baskets which includes the following ingredients;

  • Lamb Top Round
  • Rutabaga
  • Grenadine Syrup
  • Carrot Jam

After the Chefs completed their dishes they were presented to the Judges and given the following critiques;

Chef Matt prepared Grilled Lamb w/ Rutabaga Puree & Grenadine & Pickle Jam. The judges said his lamb was sliced perfectly, his puree needed seasoning and they were split on his sauce as some thought it strange while one thought it was good.

Chef Danushka prepared Marinated Lamb w/ Rutabaga Puree & Rosemary and Grenadine Sauce. The judges liked her sauce and said her presentation was neat and impressive but she again had no salt on her dish.

Chef Ryan prepared Roasted Lamb w/ Rutabaga Puree & Grenadine and Jam Sauce. The judges said his puree was silky and smooth. They did not like his sauce but did like his lamb presentation.

After careful deliberation the judges chopped Chef Danushka for the reasons above.

DESSERT ROUND
Ted Allen told the Chefs they have 30 minutes to complete the round and has them open their baskets which includes the following ingredients;

  • Arak
  • Canned Pumpkin
  • Amaretti Cookies
  • Cayenne Pepper

After the Chefs completed their dishes they were presented to the Judges and given the following critiques;

Chef Ryan prepared a Pumpkin Fritter w/ Cayenne Pepper Cream. The judges said the fritter was good but the cream lacked sugar and was harsh.

Chef Matt prepared Pumpkin Custard w/ Caramel Sauce and Cayenne Cream w/ Berries. The judges said his custard was over cooked. They loved the caramel and they told him all day he did too much and should have done less better.

After careful deliberation Chef Ryan was chopped for technical flaws throughout the competition.

Chef Matt wins the title of Chopped Champion and $10,000.
